Who are the members?
Members are parents of children with disabilities (ages 0-12) and representatives from each involved school district, public health departments, social services, and service providers in the area. Also included are other public and private agencies that have an interest in children with disabilities.
What does the McLeod County HelpMeGrow do?
This very diverse and active committee is responsible for maintaining the Early Intervention intake system, developing public awareness of the system, and assuring development of the IFSP. Members of the McLeod County HelpMeGrow are committed to assisting families of children with disabilities as well as simplifying the process needed to obtain services to the best of their abilities. The McLeod County HelpMeGrow works not only as an entire committee, but also has various subcommittees that address specific issues. The Public Relations Subcommittee is mandated to educate the community about the availability of Early Intervention services. The Family Support Subcommittee organizes workshops and family support efforts in our area to educate parents and professionals about a variety of issues and topics. The Steering Committee oversees the HelpMeGrow budget. The Interagency Referral Team (IRT) reviews new referrals and recommends appropriate services. IRT also assists families in Early Intervention with ongoing services.
